Time was running out at a halfway house, and Dane felt little to no hope of what life would be like when he was on his own again.
“I came from a good family but got into drugs and alcohol at a young age.”
After spending time in prison and a halfway house, Dane applied to Keystone Mission’s Transformation Center.
What Dane thought would only be temporary shelter, led to over 6 months of stable housing, a new purpose, and restored relationships.
“[Keystone Mission] taught me to value life and has given me stability. I am happy to have a fresh start here.”
From one-on-one counseling to recovery classes, Dane is in the process of finding his footing again. In the last month, he has found the blessings that come from helping others.
Every Thursday he looks forward to volunteering at our Wilkes-Barre Innovation Center where he helps guests with accessing career and schooling options online, share his transformation story, and encourages those facing addiction to seek help.
He is pursuing his Certified Recovery Specialist credentials with hopes to become a counselor. Today, he has the keys to his own apartment, has stable employment, and is rebuilding his relationships with his daughters.
