In commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Keystone Mission’s Lasha Wyman-Klien took the reins at Penn State Scranton’s MLK Day Celebration as the keynote speaker on Friday, January 12, 2024.
“I am thankful to God for allowing me to do the work that I do,” says Wyman-Klein. “Embracing diversity is not just an honor, but a commitment to ensuring that the voices of the most vulnerable, marginalized and disenfranchised are heard. Being nominated and awarded for excellence in diversity has been a highlight in my career.”
Wyman-Klein, also an alumna of Penn State, was then presented with the 2023 Excellence in Diversity Award for her many accomplishments in the advocacy for homelessness in our community.
Wyman-Klein was promoted to the role of Scranton Program Director in November 2023, assisting staff with program setup and cultivating connections with other organizations. Her implementation of the Pathfinders Vocational Program, the yearly Go Green Community Clean Up campaign, Keystone’s inaugural Poetry & Worship Night for visitors, and her successful advocacy and acquisition of public shower access have all occurred during her tenure at Keystone Mission.
